It has almost been a year since I first come to this Toba-Samosir area, to serve as a lecturer of a programming course in a local polytechnic. However, I am still unable to engage even a very basic conversation in Toba Batak language. For the purpose of Toba Batak Corpus initiatives I am involved in, I bought some introductory materials for learning Batak. As it is surprisingly difficult to find this kind of material on the Internet (and even in book stores!), I decided to share what I have learned here in my blog. Even though I will try to write everything as thoroughly as possible, this series is not a replacement for a good teacher or self-study book.

It has been awhile since I last wrote something to my blog. As my writing skill has started to rot, I decided to start blogging again. So, after spending some days installing and tweaking Wordpress and its plugins, I have almost everything set up to my liking. Shortly put, I’m ready to blog.

Hopefully this post will really be a new beginning, not just another pseudo-”Hey, I’m back!” post. Starting this week, I will try to post at least one short post every other day, so… wish me the best! :D
